Optimization of Heat Exchangers Network of SOUTH PARS

Description

South Pars Gas Complex Company is one of the subsidiary companies of Iran National Gas Company, which was established in 1377. This company was responsible for the operation of multiple phase dry facilities of the South Pars gas field. Facilities that were designed and implemented by Pars Oil and Gas Company, one of Iran oil subsidiaries. Description of The Process of Unit 107 Gas Refinery

The purpose of this unit is to produce propane, butane and C5+. Specifications of input feed, C3+ from unit 105 with 21.8 barg pressure. and temperature is 93 degrees Celsius and products are propane to 114 units, butane to 115 units and C5+ to 103 and 110 units.

This unit is a place where liquid propane, liquid butane and C5+ are separated by distillation in two distillation towers. The separated C5+ will be mixed with the condensate of unit 103 and sweetened butane and propane will be exported. One unit is designed for each phase.

This unit includes two main parts: propane tower and butane tower.

Due to the difference in vapor pressure of different C3+ components, heat is used to separate them. The input feed of this unit is from 105 units. which enters tray 21 of the propane tower (including thirty-two trays). This tower is equipped with a reflux drum and a reboiler.

The lower temperature of this tower is 138 degrees Celsius, the lower pressure of the tower is 21.6 barg, and the upper pressure and temperature of the tower is 21.3 barg and 62.5 degrees Celsius, respectively. In the reboiler, low pressure steam is used for heating.  Propane gas is discharged from the top of the tower. And in the air cooler, the propane is liquefied and enters the reflux drum. This drum is used for product purity.

Heat Exchanger Network Analysis

According to the process whose full description was interpreted in the previous sections, it is clear. There are 6 heat exchangers including tube shell heat exchanger, welder, air cooler. The figure below is a view of the converters used in unit 107.

In this project, the main goal is to check the network of converters used in this unit and reduce the energy consumption for the whole unit. The simulation and analysis is done in Aspen Energy Analyzer software.

With the help of this software, firstly, the network of converters in a normal way with the industrial information that is fully attached in the attachment of the project. (energy and material balance tables) and then by changing and designing the new converter, we measure the amount of energy in it and compare.
