MATLAB Coding of Solubility of CO2 in Ethanolamine Solution

Introduction

The solubility of gases in liquids is one of the key aspects in many industrial and chemical processes. Especially in the field of gas separation and purification. In the meantime, carbon dioxide (CO₂) as one of the greenhouse gases and an important byproduct in industrial processes, is a serious issue in chemical engineering. And the environment is considered. One of the effective methods for adsorbtion of carbon dioxide from industrial gases and reducing its emission to the environment. The use of amine solutions including ethanolamine (MEA). These compounds, due to their special characteristics, can effectively adsorb carbon dioxide.

In this regard, modeling and simulation of carbon dioxide dissolution behavior in ethanolamine solution is of particular importance. Using software such as MATLAB. It can help us in analyzing and predicting the thermal and thermodynamic behavior of this system. MATLAB is capable as a powerful tool in numerical calculations and various simulations. To accurately evaluate the effect of different parameters such as temperature, pressure and concentration on the solubility of carbon dioxide in ethanolamine solution.

This study examines how to code in MATLAB to calculate the solubility of carbon dioxide in ethanolamine solution. The aim of this project is to create an efficient tool to improve carbon dioxide adsorption processes and improve global performance in pollution control and environmental protection. The obtained results can help the designers and engineers to optimize the adsorption and separation processes. and achieve reduction of operating costs and reduction of negative environmental effects.

Description

In this project, we investigate the solubility of CO2 in DEA (diethanolamine) aqueous solvent. Aqueous diethanolamine (DEA) solutions are used in gas industries to remove acid gases during natural gas processing, or coal degassing, etc. To design the absorbers and tapes used, accurate information about the solubility of acid gases that covers a wide range of temperature and acid gas loading is required. Therefore, accurate mathematical models are needed to predict acid gas solubility for the entire working range of temperature and acid loading.
