Today, with the increasing demand for liquid fuels as well as the limitations of energy resources. It has caused a lot of attention to the processes to meet this need. The need of industrialized countries for liquid fuels and the existence of vast gas reserves in the world has created a great incentive to convert natural gas into liquid fuels. At the place of production, it was converted into valuable liquid products and presented to the consumption market like petroleum products.
In recent years, the GTL process has gained attention. which can be related to reasons such as the high octane number of the products. very low sulfur (at zero). very low aromatic content and being free of nitrogen. In addition to the mentioned reasons, factors such as unstable sources of energy, a significant increase in oil prices, laws imposed on light, cleaner alternative fuels, as well as burning reduction policies. Gases associated with oil have led to the greater use of GTL technology.
Fischer-Tropsch Process
In general, GTL technology includes three processes of synthesis gas production, Fischer-Tropsch (FTS) and product upgrading. Among the three processes that make up the GTL technology set, Fischer-Tropsch is of particular importance. Fischer-Tropsch process or Fischer-Tropsch synthesis is one of the appropriate methods to convert solid fuel such as coal and natural gas into more valuable products such as liquid fuels. and many researches have been done in order to obtain new technologies in this field.
The Fischer-Tropsch process includes a series of chemical reactions that lead to the production of various hydrocarbon products with the formula (CnH2n+2). In fact, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis products cover a wide range. These products include paraffins, linear and branched hydrocarbons, distillates to waxes, olefins, ethylene, propylene, oxygenated products and alcohols.
